REGIONAL PREVENTION PROGRAM

The Regional Prevention Program is established to provide for the planning and implementation of preventive health and health related programs for youth, other sub-population groups and the community at large.  Emphasis is put on the early identification of health problems and prevention of risky behaviors that lead to premature death and disability.

This program specifically provides on-going oversight over the Community Prevention Initiative (CPI) state grant program.  In this regard, subcontracts are developed with local community-based organizations to provide family enrichment services which include mentoring, counseling, child development screenings, and referral services for alcohol and drug abuse programs and activities using funds allocated by the TN Department of Health and other funding sources.

Technical assistance is also provided through this program for program planning, program development, program evaluation, grant writing and for the development of collaborations for effective service delivery.

Lastly, staff with the Regional Prevention Program provides staff support to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Health Council.
