The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign promotes personal preparedness, whether it is for families, businesses, or individuals. The Health Department supports this effort, and encourages everyone in the community to take steps to prepare for emergencies before they happen. |

The Ready campaign highlights preparedness steps, including making an emergency kit, developing a family emergency plan, and becoming informed about emergencies that can happen. |

Why is this important?

According to FEMA, there is an average of 32 federally-declared disasters each year. This year, we have already had 49, as of August 28th. We never know when a disaster when strike, so it's important to be prepared beforehand. |

How do you start? The Ready Campaign has a website that describes the simple steps to get ready.
