Pregnant women are encouraged to seek prenatal care as early as possible in their pregnancy in order to help ensure the best possible outcome: a healthy baby and mother. By beginning care early, some problems during pregnancy and delivery may be prevented.
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department offers two levels of prenatal care: basic and full.
Basic prenatal care services include:
Basic Prenatal care is provided at the following clinic:
Full prenatal care services include:
- Presumptive eligibility and TennCare enrollment
- screening and diagnosis; (pregnancy testing, laboratory screenings, etc)
- education and counseling
- referrals to other health care providers and health programs like WIC
- routine, obstetric medical management through delivery
- 6 weeks post-partum check-up and availability of contraceptive services (Family Planning)
Full prenatal care services are provided at:
Sequoyah Clinic.
Program Requirements:
- Applicants must be a resident of Hamilton County
- Applicants must have information that shows: identification (preferably photo ID), proof of residence and income status
- Services are provided by appointment
- Fees for services provided are based upon family size and income (sliding scale fees)-- TennCare is accepted
