The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign promotes personal preparedness, whether it is for families, businesses, or individuals. The Health Department supports this effort, and encourages everyone in the community to take steps to prepare for emergencies before they happen.
The Ready campaign highlights preparedness steps, including making an emergency kit, developing a family emergency plan, and becoming informed about emergencies that can happen. |

Why is this important?
According to FEMA, there is an average of 32 federally-declared disasters each year. This year, we have already had 39, as of May 5th. We never know when a disaster will strike, so it's important to be prepared beforehand. |
