Emergency Preparedness and Planning - Bios

| EPP is responsible for planning, response, and recovery efforts associated with a public health disaster. A public health disaster can be man-made such as the release of a biological or chemical agent, or natural, such as a flood, tornado, or earthquake. |
Dawn M. Ford, Emergency Response Coordinator
Dawn Ford is the Emergency Response Coordinator for the Health Department and is an environmental scientist. She is responsible for coordinating and developing emergency plans that affect the health of residents in Hamilton County. She also analyzes and evaluates local health hazards related to the environment. Dawn currently represents the Health Department as a Vice-Chairperson of the Local Emergency Planning Committee and is the Coordinator for Pandemic Influenza Planning. Susan McNabb, Volunteer Coordinator
Susan McNabb is the Volunteer Coordinator with CHCHD’s Emergency Preparedness and Planning Department. As the Volunteer Coordinator, her main role is to recruit, train and maintain a group of approximately 2,500 volunteers for responding to a public health emergency within Hamilton County. Volunteers provide essential services and are a valuable part of every healthy community. During an exercise or actual emergency, Susan will notify volunteers to assist public health efforts in assuring our community is healthy. Susan will be continuing efforts to identify organizations and individuals to become part of the volunteer program. She has expanded the volunteer program to become an active unit in the Medical Reserve Corps. Virginia Wolverton, Regional Hospital Coordinator
Jenny Wolverton is the Regional Hospital Coordinator (RHC) for emergency preparedness. As the RHC, her main role is to serve as a central point of contact between hospitals and public health for the distribution and exchange of information related to emergency planning and response. She coordinates and conducts cooperative emergency preparedness exercises for the enhancement of interoperability between hospital and public health organizations. During the exercises or in an actual emergency, she facilitates communication between hospitals, public health, and other emergency response agencies in an Incident Command System environment. Angela Frame, Nurse Specialist Trainer
Angela is the Nurse Trainer at the Health Department. She is responsible for the development, maintenance, and tracking of staff training. She conducts new employee training as well as ongoing training for all health department employees. Sabrina Novak, Environmental Scientist
Sabrina Novak is an Environmental Scientist with Emergency Preparedness. Her main role in EPP is to develop plans for the identification, monitoring, and remediation of environmental health hazards during an emergency. Major disasters and man-made acts of terrorism can pose threats to air, animals, food, agriculture, and water. Sabrina also works on environmental issues in the community and provides the public with information about hazardous chemicals, indoor/outdoor air quality, and water quality issues. Barbara Vesselles, Senior Secretary
