The Highway Safety Program works to increase knowledge related to the safe use of vehicles, occupant protection devices, child safety seats, and pedestrian safety to reduce the risk of injury and/or death of motor vehicle occupants and pedestrians.

In an effort to reduce motor vehicle injuries and deaths among children, the Hamilton County Health Department offers a Child Safety Seat Distribution Program available to eligible community residents. This program provides caregivers with one (1) free car seat, hands-on demonstration of correct usage, information on child safety seat graduation time, and educational information such as crash dynamics.
Qualifications for the program are:
- Primary Caregiver or Parent
- Caregivers who qualify for WIC, TennCare, SNAP, Medicaid, etc. are eligible.
- Resident of Hamilton County
The car seat distribution classes are by appointment only.
